This position is assigned to the Electrical shop within the Engineering service line for the Nebraska Western Iowa Health Care System. Incumbent performs preventative maintenance, installations, troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems having voltages up to 480 VAC.
DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY : This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.
Major duties include :
- Installation, repair, preventive maintenance and inspection of the electrical distribution system and associated equipment.
- Performs the duty as required of journeyman electrician, including the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Performs work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment in industrial, institutional, office and residential buildings.
- Removes, replaces, tightens, splices, solders and insulates defective wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures.
- Locates defective parts / equipment through visual observation or through the use of test equipment.
- Locates broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring fixtures, controls and equipment.
- Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manual to plan and lay-out the routing, placement, type, gauge, balance, load, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls.
- Determines locations and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, connections and install wiring, couplings, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices including electrical service entrances.
- Installing, modifying, repairing and maintaining electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.
