Job Title : Middle School Science Teacher

Location : Multiple Iowa School Districts

Position Type : Full-Time

Grade Levels : 6-8

Reports To : Building Principal

Position Summary :

Multiple Iowa school districts are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join their educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, foster scientific thinking, and promote academic excellence in alignment with the Iowa Core Science Standards . This educator will design and implement engaging lessons that integrate hands-on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and real-world applications of science.

Key Responsibilities :

Develop and deliver science instruction that aligns with Iowa Core Standards for middle school science (Life, Earth & Space, and Physical Sciences).

Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports all learners.

Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Design and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.

Foster scientific inquiry through lab experiments, collaborative projects, and cross-curricular integration.

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and classroom activities.

Participate in professional development, school improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary team planning.

Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and behavior documentation.

Uphold school and district policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications : Required :

Valid Iowa teaching license with a 5-8 or 5-12 Science endorsement

Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in middle school science instruction

Preferred :

Experience teaching science at the middle school level

Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and inquiry-based learning

Ability to integrate STEM, technology, and lab-based activities into instruction

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills

Work Environment :

Classroom setting in a middle school environment

May involve supervision of students in lab or outdoor learning settings

Collaborative, team-based teaching environment with supportive administration
