This is a two-year Research Scientist position in the Geology Department. The Research Scientist will work on the project titled New discoveries of Early Cretaceous floras from northwestern Gondwana reveal a cradle of plant diversity.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Study of Early Cretaceous plants from Colombia and Ecuador
Processing of sediment samples for mesofossils
CT scanning / processing of Paja Fossils
Scientific Publication of results
Attend BSA or GSA conferences
Creation and dissemination of outreach events
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Biology or Geology
Paleobotanical expertise
Knowledge of Early Cretaceous plants
Fieldwork experience
Writing mentoring and communication skills
Supervision Received :
Receives general supervision by Negaunee Associate Curator of Paleobotany
Supervision Exercised :
The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
