We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant to join our dynamic dermatology team. This individual will assist the Mohs surgeon in performing skin cancer procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical setting, with a strong focus on dermatology or surgical support, and possess excellent patient care skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare patients for Mohs surgery, including explaining the procedure and addressing any patient concerns.
- Assist the Mohs surgeon during procedures by providing necessary instruments, materials, and support.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field during procedures.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and medical history prior to and during surgery.
- Assist with patient positioning and ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure.
- Perform wound dressing and provide post-operative care instructions to patients.
- Send tissue specimens to the pathology lab.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes and follow-up instructions.
- Ensure the surgical environment is clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Provide patient education regarding skin cancer, surgical aftercare, and preventive skin health.
- Schedule patient follow-up appointments and assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.
