Who we want

Clinical Services Department (CSD) supports Hugely Important People (HIPsters) by providing unique, specialized care. We offer a variety of Therapy Services – Speech and Language Therapy, Behavioral Support, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Social Skill Groups. Therapy goals are established following a comprehensive evaluation process. Goals follow the SMART paradigm : Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based. Therapy models include individual, group, pull-out, and push in sessions. We believe that collaboration is key in pursuing the full, untapped possibilities of our Hugely Important People (HIPsters). CSD therapists work alongside Program Instructors, HIPster Family Services, and Career Services to ensure HIPsters’ functional goals and needs are addressed during educational and vocational opportunities. Success factors include compassion for different abilities / disabilities, flexibility in a variety of environments, ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and a passion for serving our mission. The BCBA role is key to the success of the organization. ABA for adults with IDD incorporates several strategies that use scientific learning and behavior principles to encourage the increase of desired learning and behavior, as well as the decrease of unwanted behavior (e.g., aggression, self-injurious behavior). ABA is effective in helping individuals reach successful outcomes in many areas including communication, daily living skills, social skills, and academic skills. You are the orchestrator of developing opportunities that will enrich our HIPsters lives forever. The purpose of ABA therapy at My Possibilities is to decrease and replace maladaptive patterns of behavior to increase desired / safe behaviors and increase HIPster success. Some other areas addressed are :

  • Self- injurious / Aggressive behavior
  • Parent / Caregiver training
  • Essential Functions

    Develop, Implement and Maintain Behavior Intervention Plans :

  • Interview Staff, HIPster, provider and / or family members who know the individual to get background and current information regarding concerning behaviors
  • Analyze available data to help determine where, when, and why problem behaviors occur
  • Directly observe the HIPster in all relevant settings. Analyze the data to determine the function of the problem behavior
  • Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviors
  • Integrate appropriate setting event, antecedent, teaching, and consequences strategies to reduce problem behavior and increase alternative replacement behaviors
  • Develop a repertoire of assessment strategies consistent with instructional goals and accurately assess student behavior skills and understandings
  • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which “behaviorally challenged” HIPsters thrive
  • Facilitate behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice
  • Training :

  • Engage parents in the “Hipster Behavior Intervention Plan” process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive development of their HIPster
  • Work with individual instructors, groups of instructors and / or the entire staff on issues such as : crisis intervention, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions
  • Lead / Participate in behavior-focused Information Exchanges as appropriate
  • Engage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge and skills to support all HIPsters
  • Organization and Keep Record Maintained :

  • Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job
  • Maintains up-to-date files on all clients
  • Writes and provides accurate and timely notes to the Therapy Billing Specialist for billing purposes
  • Competencies (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Possesses expert knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete an effective Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and write a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), based on researched based practices
  • Demonstrates exceptional knowledge in the use of data to inform instruction and write behavior plans for individual HIPsters
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (sign language a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills are vital as well as the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and coordinate with other team members
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Develop resources and relationships
  • Education

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Behavior Analysis, or related field
  • Certification at the BCBA level Required
  • Must have current State of Texas BCBA License
  • Experience

  • At least (1) year experience completing comprehensive functional assessments and behavior support plans
  • At least (2) years’ experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Experience working across disciplines with staff members from a variety of different cultural & training backgrounds
  • Specialized Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, etc.

  • Able to work confidently in a variety of settings and with HIPsters with behavior disorders
  • Must be flexible and comfortable with change
  • Must be detail oriented and complete tasks in a timely manner including meeting all deadlines
  • Must be able to get certified in CPR / First Aid and nonviolent crisis intervention within state-mandated timelines

    Supervisory responsibilities

  • Provide supervision to RBTs
  • Working Conditions

  • This position will work in a shared office setting which requires sitting and working on a computer. However, this position will be required to handle behavior situations throughout the building which may require standing, walking, running, lifting, and crouching
  • All potential employees must pass a background check and drug screen test.
