Overview
- Observes and listens to operating machines including transfer presses or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Prove tooling for successful operation of machines at standard production rate.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
- Assembles and operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
- Operates machines to meet customer’s orders.
- Understand and use statistical process control and capability studies.
- Studies blueprints, sketches drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of blemished workpiece, sequence of operation and setup requirements.
- Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Select, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and material on machine such as mills, lathes, etc.
- Able to select speed and feeds, depth of cut on machine tools.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining assembly or production problems.
- Heat treats tools or parts.
SKILLS
Ability to run all toolroom equipment.Must have the skills to troubleshoot problems relating to machines.EXPERIENCE
