Job Summary :

NextGen Software Solutions is looking for a Senior Mainframe Developer with expertise in COBOL and JCL to support a large-scale financial services project in Omaha NE. This is an onsite role ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in legacy mainframe systems and a deep understanding of financial or banking applications.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design develop maintain and optimize mainframe applications using COBOL and DB2.
  • Work with large-scale batch and online transaction systems.
  • Perform impact analysis coding unit testing and documentation.
  • Write and maintain complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts QA and project managers.
  • Ensure application stability performance and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Support application deployment system integration and production release cycles.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • 8 years of hands-on experience in COBOL DB2 JCL and VSAM.
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries and DB2 stored procedures.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in batch and real-time environments.
  • Experience in financial or banking domain applications.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC processes version control and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of CICS IMS or Mainframe modernization projects.
  • Experience with DevOps / mainframe automation tools (e.g. Endevor File-AID Abend-AID).
  • Exposure to job scheduling tools like Control-M or CA7.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g. JIRA ServiceNow).
