The City of Lansing's Office of Financial Empowerment Division is seeking a Community Coordinator who will be the community liaison for the Region 7 OS Reentry program. This person will represent City of Lansing and the Region 7 OS Steering Committee at community meetings and at meetings sponsored by the Michigan Department of Corrections. The Community Coordinator will work closely with the facility staff and field staff in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties to ensure a smooth transition to program services for clients paroled from prison. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING :
- Contract Employee will require a background check, including LEIN, through the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC).
- Position covers Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties; traveling is required for home visits and to attend meetings with Parole officers (mileage will be reimbursed).
- Hours : 40 Hours, Flexible Schedule, includes some evening and weekend hours.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work or related field,One year of experience providing supportive services and / or case management in the human services field, including individuals with mental health conditions, substance abuse histories, low income and homelessness, strongly preferred.Experience working with the parole or probation population, preferred.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
According to the contract with the State of Michigan, Community Coordinator duties include a minimum of : Staffing the Steering Team and Advisory CouncilDocuments and circulates best practices learned from a variety of sources to be incorporated in day-to-day service provision.Providing high level technical assistance to service providers; consultation on program development; partnership negotiations and leadership capacity building.Monitor the effectiveness of programs in all stages of service delivery beginning with requests for proposals through the monitoring of outcomes.Creating and editing the Data Collection Spreadsheet for City of Lansing and all vendors monthly;Coordination and communication regarding the OS Reentry program;Identifying community assets that can be applied to improve parolee success, as well as gaps in services that could be filled with the support of state, federal, and local funding;Function as the community resource and liaison for OS Reentry in Region 7;Complete MDOC reports as required;Attend all scheduled video conferences for returning citizens prior to release, begin the process for community readiness by making appropriate referrals, and scheduling appointments with appropriate service providers prior to release;Attend all transition team meetings, all-vendor meetings (where vendors can bring cases for discussion) and monthly orientation sessions (at the prisons) and communicate any needs for service modifications, parolee progress, program participation to parole agent and transition team;Collect and monitor client activity and progress reports submitted from service providers;Work in tandem with the parole agent to develop communication and monitoring strategies to address programmatic and client related needs and actions;Function as a link between the parolee, parole agent and service provider to facilitate referrals and monitor on-going progress of service delivery;Implement, gather and maintain all necessary reports, documentation and files for each parolee i.e. referrals, progress reports, referrals for subsequent services, any modifications to services;Assist the parole agent by ensuring that each parolee receives appropriate referrals and can access a seamless flow of services that are available and occurring in the community;Prepares (or assists with preparation of) all facets of OS Reentry related meetings i.e. transition teams, advisory councils, service provider meetings, and steering team meetings, to include agendas, minutes, meeting reminders, membership maintenance, meeting set-up, etc.;Ensure the prompt payment of sub-contractor invoices;Monitoring of the OS Reentry Budget and preparation of all financial reports;Perform formal site visits of each vendor annually and enable MDOC to perform a site visit at City of Lansing;Renewing vendor contracts and issuing Requests for Proposals in the event a vendor’s contract is not renewed;Supervision of interns if needed;Other duties as assigned.Please note :This is a CONTRACT Position with the City of Lansing, funded by the State of Michigan. Contract will end on September 30, 2025 (End of Fiscal Year for State of Michigan).
