Summary of Position

The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound using sophisticated equipment. These procedures are performed with limited supervision and assumes responsibility for standards regarding equipment operation and safety.

Nature and Scope

The Ultrasound Technologist independently operates sonographic equipment and processes diagnostic images according to operation and safety procedures. They are responsible for accurate and consistent quality images using fixed or mobile equipment. Position requires abilities to perform duplex ultrasound venous scans and assist the provider in performing procedures for patients with chronic venous insufficiency. Assists physician during endovenous thermal or endovenous adhesive ablation procedures with the appropriate directions, regarding catheter placement and withdrawal, set up for and clean up following ablation procedures. Additionally, position assists the physician during Ultrasound guided injection treatment sessions / sclerotherapy or phlebectomy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree required.
• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonographer program.
• Registered (or registry eligible) sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS).
• Experience in an ambulatory environment preferred.
• Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Detail oriented and ability to prioritize work effectively.
• Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and patient experience standards.
• BLS Certified at the time of employment, or within the first 3 months.
