Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer at Swarm Aero, you will play a pivotal role in designing, constructing, integrating, and testing components and systems for our long-range aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed engineering models to communicate design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and maintain part libraries for standard and custom components.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, producible, and meet requirements.
- Conduct design reviews and integrate feedback from cross-functional teams.
- Manage design data and documentation within the Teamcenter PLM system.
- Develop build guidelines and oversee fabrication and integration of mechanical sub-systems.
- Analyze performance, document results, and present findings.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions during prototyping and production phases.
- Build, test, and fly the designed systems in real-world conditions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field3+ years of experience in mechanical design, with emphasis on detailed component designProficiency with CAD software, preferably NX (other acceptable CAD tools : SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor)Experience with PLM systems, such as Teamcenter (other acceptable systems : Windchill, ENOVIA, Aras Innovator, PDM Enterprise)Demonstrated ability to create complex 3D models and detailed 2D drawingsKnowledge of GD&T principles and drafting standardsUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on designStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience in the aerospace, defense, or UAV industryFamiliarity with composite materials and design considerationsKnowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication techniquesExperience with design for additive manufacturingUnderstanding of electrical and mechanical integration requirementsPrevious work on products through full design lifecycle from concept to productionTo conform to U.S. Government controlled technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
