Model-Based Systems Engineering Technical Contributor
5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated candidate who will provide model-based systems engineering technical contribution and leadership. This position is full-time and requires the ability to successfully work in a team environment. This role will support the development of unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft systems, rockets, missiles and other defense systems. The successful candidate must be able to develop and model requirements, create system design models and documentation, utilize, and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and lead the development of processes and training associated with MBSE. This position will interface with internal and external project team members, company personnel, and customers.
Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Using MBSE to realize / describe / analyze complex systems in SysML using OOSEM or equivalent methodology
- Developing SysML models with emphasis on system decomposition, functions, interfaces, and performance to describe and analyze complex systems and software
- Analyzing customer / stakeholder requirements, decomposing requirements, deriving requirements, and allocating requirements to system and subsystem elements
- Promoting, maturing, and growing the application and use of MBSE for assigned design teams, programs, and the enterprise
- Developing the MBSE modeling environment
- Developing MBSE processes, procedures, templates, and best practices
- Developing training material for MBSE stakeholders
- Developing system-level concept of operation (ConOps), performing functional analysis and decomposition to meet end user needs using MBSE tools and techniques
- Developing operational models using frameworks such as DoDAF, MoDAF, UPDM, UAF
- Conducting trade studies and performing design research of basic engineering concepts and explorations to determine optimal requirements and system architecture
- Working in adherence to structured and defined development processes
- Performing peer reviews of fellow team members' work
- Assisting in preparation of proposals and presentation materials
- Traveling to customer locations as needed (>
25% travel may be expected at times)
Experience and skills :
Demonstrated MBSE skills in modeling complex systems and teaching others MBSEExperience working within the Defense and / or Aerospace industryExperience in aircraft, missiles, or rockets is a plusExperience developing system level models, requirements, and architecture in conjunction with discipline engineering teamsSharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environmentFamiliarity with aerospace design and verification processes to include requirements development, validation and verification for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designAbility to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across other teamsSense of ownership, urgency, and drive to accomplish resultsQualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical or related engineering discipline from an accredited engineering university10-20 years of industry experience5+ years with SysML5+ years developing models using No Magic's Cameo Systems Modeler (or similar) conforming to SysMLA U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher (or the ability to obtain such a clearance if needed)Job benefits :
