Terracon is seeking an Environmental Staff Scientist for our growing Asbestos, Lead, and Industrial Hygiene (IH) practice in our Savannah, GA office. The Staff Scientist is responsible for preparing proposals, carrying out more in-depth and complex field investigations and writing the associated reports under the direction of senior management and other leadership. The Staff Industrial Hygienist will lead projects and other staff personnel across a variety of local and national projects to eventually become proficient in completing investigations on their own. Studying for and obtaining job related certifications are required and will be supported by Terracon.
Basic Functions :
- Lead and Participate in Asbestos, Mold, Lead, and other Industrial Hygiene Surveys
- Indoor Air Quality Investigations
- Asbestos, Mold, Lead, and Industrial Hygiene Project Oversight
- Occupation Health Exposure Assessments
- Preparation and Delivery of Technical Reports
Core Responsibilities :
Conduct tasks related to project monitoring, asbestos / lead inspections, indoor air quality (IAQ) / mold assessments, and / or other project assignments as appropriateAnalyze laboratory dataPrepare draft reports for review by senior managementMaintain consistent communication of project progress with senior management from start to finish of the projectMake employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policiesAdditional Duties and Responsibilities :
Self-motivated and ability to work without supervisionPromote a positive client experienceAbility to work in a team and communicate effectively with other field personal and managementBusiness awareness including specific knowledge of the customer and how Terracon can bring value to the marketplacePhysical ability to carry equipment up to 35 pounds, climb ladders, get in and out of basements and attic spaces, etc.Ability to wear a respiratorAbility to work in moldy / dusty environments (proper PPE provided)Knowledge, Skills, and / or Abilities Required :
Ability to study and pass various certification programsProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of technical reportsSelf-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environmentExcellent time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize workAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsWillingness for regional travel for businessAbility to pass a background check for Federal and school facilitiesRequirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related science field.Minimum 1-3 years’ experience.Master’s degree preferred.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Preferred :
