Staffmark is hiring a Project Accountant in Lafayette, LA! Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a background in construction or project-based environments? This is your chance to join a well-established commercial construction company and play a key role in driving financial success on high-impact projects.

Salary : $65,000 – $75,000 (based on experience)

Schedule : 1st Shift | Full-Time | Direct Hire

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
  • Track project expenses and prepare monthly job cost reports
  • Process subcontractor invoices, change orders, and progress billings
  • Partner with project managers on budget revisions and cost-to-complete estimates
  • Set up new projects in the accounting system, including billing terms and codes
  • Oversee accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
  • Prepare and analyze project-specific financial statements
  • Support monthly close with variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and industry regulations
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and contractual records

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (construction or engineering strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and AIA billing
  • Familiarity with construction software such as Sage, Procore, Foundations, or Viewpoint (a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical ability
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
