Police Officer [Lateral Transfers Only]

Applications Available : In person at Macedonia City Center - Police Dispatch (24 hours / day, 7 days / week), located at 9691 Valley View Road, Macedonia, Ohio 44056; The City will accept completed applications for lateral transfers for the position of Police Officer via email at (), U.S. mail, or hand-delivery effective immediately until position(s) are filled, or the City closes the application period. Duties : Perform all duties of the position of Police Officer, including but not limited to : enforce traffic violations, make arrests, collect and preserve evidence, administer first aid, testify in court, and promote good public relations. Applicants must be willing to work scheduled / assigned shifts (currently 12-hour shifts), including weekends and holidays. (shift differential per hour : Night shift $1.50, Float $.50 - subject to collective bargaining agreement) Salary Range : Subject to collective bargaining agreement, currently (2023) $67,390.79 - $78,568 depending on prior experience (2024) $69,412.52- $80,925.70, (2025) $71,494.90-$83,353.47. Other benefits : hospitalization, dental & vision insurance, prescription coverage, paid vacation time, 15 sick days per year, 13 holidays per year, uniform allowance. Accrued time may be transferred. Minimum Qualifications : Applicants must be currently or with in the past 12 months been employed as a full-time Classified Civil Service Police Officer. Eligible candidate(s) are required to take and pass psychological, physical and polygraph tests. Other testing includes EKG, drug screening (periodic drug screening during employment required) background check and personal interview with the appointing authority. Eligible candidate(s) required to be a nonsmoker and remain a non-smoker for duration of employment. Subject to probationary period.
