POSITION SUMMARY :
The Assistant Lead Endoscopic Technician's primary functions include the present GI Technician job description (involving preparation and care of endoscopic equipment, supply acquisition, and direct patient care within the scope of practice) as well as as assistant leadership role in the clinical environment. Starting at $30 / hr., commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification
- Computer knowledge
- 6 months experience as a GI Technician (required)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides input for recruiting, hiring, training, and disciplining GI TechniciansOrientation and training of staff to include but not limited to :Function and testing of scope reprocessor and steam sterilizerProcessing and maintenance of scopes to include pre-cleaning, cleaning and disinfectionHandling of specimensProcedure room and processing room set up and take downHandling of biopsy forceps, snares, clips and dilatation devicesMaintenance of logs in scope processing room, temperature and humidity logs and eye wash stationAssists with planning assignments for personnel and delegates specific duties and tasksResponsible for completion of annual technical staff competenciesProvides input for annual performance appraisalsEnsures compliance that staff adheres to protective required wear (PPE) when assisting and performing decontamination and any other time when exposure to blood borne pathogens or chemicals present a hazard.Provides an inservice per year of related GI proceduresFunction as a resource person to other GI Technicians and nursesProactively participates in QAPI and Safety ProgramsRegular and predictable attendancePerforms other miscellaneous duties as assignedAttends all required educationTEAMWORK :
