Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer with expertise in ADAS, and / or AVs for our Practice in our Phoenix, AZ; Natick, MA; Atlanta, GA; Farmington Hills, MI; Menlo Park, CA; Irvine, CA; or Los Angeles, CA office. In this role, you will work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance (., emissions; fuel economy; noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH); drivability; acceleration; ; federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products. You will have the opportunity to ultimately develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent.
You will be responsible for
- Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product; and identifying business development opportunities
- Developing and managing client relationships
- Project and cost management on casework
- Setting up and executing various test programs, including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations
- Continuing to develop specialized expertise in the automotive field such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology
- Managing, mentoring, and providing project work for junior consulting staff
- Developing and growing the Vehicle Engineering Practice
You will have the following skills and qualifications
Master's Degree or . in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field5+ years of work experience in ADAS, automated vehicles (AVs), and / or vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deploymentPresently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing requiredAbility to generate business and manage client relationshipsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible mannerStrong leadership and communication skills and experience mentoring junior staffField and / or lab measurement experience with good hands-on skillsVersatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
