What We Do Here at HLE :

Over almost 30 years, we have worked in the public works sector. More precisely in highway work. Our area of concentration includes sign lighting, freeway lighting, street lighting, traffic signals, and ramp metering systems. Any electrical components that are related to that scope of work fall under our specialty. Our projects physical footprint spans from our Southern California offices throughout California to its Northern Border.

General objective :

The Safety Coordinator assists in developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace safety programs that ensure a safe work environment and comply with Cal / OSHA regulations by conducting risk assessments, training staff, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The Safety Coordinator mission is to implement and maintain safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel on the job sites, while also adhering to company safety policies. The Safety Coordinator's objective will be achieved through effective collaboration with project teams and senior management, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and project-specific requirements, while maintaining the ability to travel to various job sites throughout California and accommodate varied schedules.

Specific objectives :

• Assist in the development, maintenance, and updating of the Safety Policy, Site-Specific Safety Program (SSSP), and related documents as required by project needs.
• Support site-specific risk evaluations based on contract specifications and plans.
• Help ensure compliance with Cal / OSHA drug testing requirements and project-specific safety standards.
• Conduct or facilitate site orientations, daily safety inspections, and weekly safety meetings under the guidance of the Safety Manager.
• Review construction work plansincluding those of subcontractorsand participate in pre-planning for high-risk work activities.
• Attend weekly scheduling meetings to assist in evaluating job hazard analyses (JHAs).
• Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are current and accessible; maintain hazard communication procedures.
• Assist in investigating and reporting all incidents and near misses promptly and support the development of corrective actions.
• Submit weekly safety status reports and contribute to continuous safety performance improvements.
• Monitor traffic control documentation and site safety reviews as required by the project.
• Enter and maintain accurate records within the companys safety and compliance platforms.
• Recommend and, upon approval, implement improvements to the overall safety program.
• Perform field reviews, inspections, or incident investigations as needed to ensure regulatory and internal compliance
