Job Description

Job Description

Who we are :

EOI Space is developing and deploying a network of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery.  We aim to deliver timely and actionable data for commercial and defense applications.

We are on our way to achieving many industry firsts.  This demands an ambitious team that revels in leaning into challenges, getting hands on, and working together.  Does this sound like you?  We are seeking an experienced Senior Image Scientist to join our image processing team.  This role will be instrumental in the implementation of EOI’s image processing pipeline for its VLEO constellation.  The position requires expertise in electro-optical imaging payloads and the corresponding image processing and reconstruction, as well as the ability to test, validate, and refine sensor technologies.

What you will do :

As a Senior Image Scientist, you will play a key role in shaping how imaging research translates into real-world impact, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams across EOI.  We are looking for an innovative and inclusive scientist who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.  We encourage applicants who bring unique perspectives and experiences to help us drive innovation and develop impactful solutions.  We are looking for a creative, curious, and motivated individual with a passion for exploration and problem-solving with a bias for action.

Responsibilities :

Create image product from the raw output of multiple high frame-rate individual sensors within a satellite-based electo-optical payload

Help define and implement pre-launch sensor testing as well as on-orbit payload operations to calibrate and validate payload performance

Work closely with other software engineers implementing EOI’s operational image processing pipeline, which includes extensive onboard compute infrastructure

Work closely with product and other engineering teams to iterate on the hardware capability and underlying image capture capability to ensure alignment with EOI’s top-level product objectives

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required, with a graduate degree strongly preferred

7+ years in imaging science with demonstrated expertise in pre-launch and in-orbit validation of imaging systems with emphasis on EO payloads

Proficiency in Python and Jupyter notebook for data analysis, simulation, and algorithm development

A minimum of 5+ years working in a large, complex, interdependent organization that includes engineering and related functions

Experience with multi-frame super resolution is preferred

Expertise in simulation platforms such as DIRSIG and other modeling tools to generate synthetic datasets for sensor design and testing is preferred

Compensation :

The salary range for this role is $160,000-$200,000 per year, depending on previous experience.  Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.  Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations : interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.

Work Location :

This is an onsite role to be located in Louisville, CO.  Some travel may be required to Seattle, WA.
