Job Summary :
Our client is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join their team! This position is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Duties :
- Manage physical databases on specific database technologies
- Design and implement backup, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies
- Manage and maintain data definitions in all production and non-production databases and replication servers
- Manage database distribution, security, and access requirements
- Design and develop logical and physical layers of databases
- Handle testing, reporting, backup, and restores
- Provide technical assistance and mentoring to staff in developing conceptual and logical database designs and physical databases
- Recommend, install, and maintain database software
- Monitor performance, conduct database training, and assist application developers with tuning efforts
Desired Skills / Experience :
Experience in the setup and maintenance of one or more database systems in a client / server operating environment, including UDB, Oracle, Progress, SQL Server, or AccessProficiency in creating tablespace areas, tables, and views, as well as in logical and physical database designKnowledge of database monitoring and performance improvement techniquesKnowledge of database maintenance proceduresFamiliarity with clustering and high-availability technology solutionsKnowledge of interfacing with client / server and Java programming languages, most commonly Visual BasicProficiency in the internals of large-scale client / server operating systemsBenefits :
