Core Government Services (CGS) is seeking an experienced and Certified Executive Housekeeping (CEH) professional team leader for the Veteran Administration's Medical Center (VAMC) in Durham, NC 27705.

Our Team leader will manage our efforts to provide a clean and safe health care environment at the Durham VA Medical Center (VAMC). This crucial service makes a significant difference in the lives of Veterans, their families, visitors, and the hospital staff. Our Team leader must have demonstrated successful cleaning leadership experience and professional training certification to ensure our team distinguishes our services by exceeding medical industry cleaning standards, maintaining knowledge of the latest developments and techniques, and continuously training our staff.
Our Team leader will meet with the Durham VAMC's Chief of Environmental Management Services (EMS) daily to provide updates and receive priorities of work to ensure patients, family members, and visitors have a safe and clean environment. Our Team leader must possess excellent communication skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with VA personnel, other on-site contractors, and all team members.
Knowledge & Job Requirements :
- Must be a Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH) or have an equal or greater certification, demonstrating advanced skills in managing environmental cleaning operations, staff, and budgets.
- Knowledge of the physical environment including design, construction, sanitation, waste, and textile management.
- Expert in regulatory compliance, finance, and administration actions.
- Develops a team safety program designed to reduce environmental risks and protect our employees and equipment.
- Develops annual reviews of standards and work procedures for all housekeeping staff.
- Leads regular team meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
- Plans work schedules and prioritizes work to ensure excellent service.
- Hire and trains new associates in accordance with labor laws, CGS policies, and VAMC standards.
- Conducts regular inspections to improve services.
- Prepares and submits VA directed reports including performance goals and accomplishments.
- Provides staff education and continuous training.
- Ensure staff clean clinical and non-clinical areas as assigned to EVS standards.
- Maintains quality assessment records as required.
- Investigates complaints regarding service and operation of department; takes appropriate action to resolve the problem and maintains documentation.
- Maintains property accountability, supply-resource management, and ensures janitorial teams conduct routine equipment maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Must be a certified environmental services manager, with a current professional certification, demonstrating advanced skills in managing environmental cleaning operations, staff, and budgets.Example professional certifications include :AHA's Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician - Train the Trainer (T-CHEST)
IEHA's Certified Environmental Services Executive (CESE), Certified Executive Housekeeping (CEH) Manager, or Registered Executive Housekeeper (REH).National Executive Housekeeping Association (NEHA) certificationsIJCSA's Medical Cleaning Certification (MCC)IHI's Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Manager (CHHE)1 Year of excellent EMS leadership experience in the last three years.CGS prefers leaders with 5 Years' experience in medical environmental services.Ability to manage employee time and work schedules.Compassionate, servant leader with high customer service personal traits and emotional intelligence.Ability to lead and manage a team through persuasive communication and appealing people skills.Organized and able to multitask in a demanding environment while maintaining a strong attention to details.Proficient in Windows based Office 365 and other business productivity software programs.High School Diploma.
