The Nutritionist / Registered Dietitian advances student well-being through individualized nutritional care campus education and community collaboration to students at Washington and Lee University. This position focuses on cultivating a healthy relationship with food fostering body respect and promoting sustainable inclusive approaches to nutrition and wellness.
This is a full-time benefit-eligible exempt 11-month position available during the academic year. This position reports to the Director of Lindley Health and closely collaborates with Lindley Counseling Dining Services Athletics and Health Promotion in contributing to campus-wide initiatives that support a culture of health belonging and balance.

Essential Functions :
Conducts individualized assessments and develops nutrition care plans addressing a wide scope of conditions that may include chronic health conditions (e.g. Celiac Disease Diabetes etc.) food allergies / intolerances obesity eating disorders athletic conditioning and performance needs etc.
Assists students in an interdisciplinary approach to evaluate treat and support disordered eating or body image concerns through evidence-based compassionate and collaborative care with Lindley Counseling and Lindley Health as appropriate.
Maintains confidential timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
Collaborates with Dining Services to review menus address food allergies and special dietary needs and promote balanced and inclusive dining options as needed.
Partners with Athletics Departments (coaches athletic trainers teams and / or individual student athletes) on developing nutritional goals meal plans and strategies for health and performance for student-athletes.
Designs and / or collaborates with campus partners to provide campus-wide wellness campaigns / events or integrated programming that supports holistic wellbeing.
Serves as a nutrition resource to faculty staff and students offering guidance on nutrition-related questions policies and initiatives.
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated high-quality student care.
Maintains professional credentials engages in continuing education and stays current with emerging research and best practices.
Assists with departmental assessment reporting and strategic planning.
Contributes to policy and procedure development that supports student wellness and health equity.
P erforms other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must have a degree from an accredited ACEND program (BS before January 2024 or MS after January 2024) a Masters or doctoral degree in a nutrition related field or a combination or education and experience demonstrating equivalency.
Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with active registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or hold a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential through the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS) or have the ability to obtain one of these credentials within six months of the appointment start date. Must maintain professional credentials with the applicable organization.
At least one year of related clinical nutrition / dietetic experience is preferred.
Familiarity working with individuals aged from adolescent to adult with developmental and / or athletic training nutritional education and support needs as well as health conditions that require nutritional assessment and therapy. Experience in nutrition counseling for mental health stress and performance.
Professional demeanor excellent clinical and interpersonal skills for individual and group interactions strong verbal and written communication skills and the personal maturity to deal effectively with ill and / or troubled students are required.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal health information is essential.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team (Counseling Dining Services and Athletics).
Minimum Pay for 11-Month Position : $61450 - Pay Commensurate with Experience
