Job Description :

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, time-limited, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Scientist. Initial appointment is for 1 year, reappointment is anticipated based on performance and funding.

The faculty member will be expected to conduct research and development (R&D) on photonic integrated circuits (PIC) including, but not limited to pioneering, innovating, and prototyping.

  • Optoelectronic component design / development / test
  • Chip design and foundry engagements.
  • Perform design technology co-optimization (DCTO)
  • Perform photonic chip and device test.
  • Perform data analysis.
  • Synthesis or R&D result and prepare publications and dissemination material.
  • Assemble and / or improve lab test environments.
  • Identify and prepare applications to funding opportunities
  • Mentor team / group members.

Support educational mission through class laboratory support and WFD activities for CHIPS-related grants.

Expected Salary :

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements :

PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with ASIC and mixed-signal (including PIC) Design for ML / AI applications.
  • Experience in industry or national laboratories
  • Experience in DOD or national security ecosystem
  • U.S. Citizenship
