Registered Nurse - Psychiatric / Mental Health 5051

We have a new opening for a full time Registered Nurse - Psychiatric / Mental Health at David Grant Medical Center -Travis AFB, CA.

Core Duties :

• Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.
• Assesses patients. Uses the nursing process as a basis for professional practice. Demonstrates proper preparation of patients for treatments and procedures
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans / actions, for teaching / education to benefit the patient / family and organization.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, to perform accurate documentation both written and electronically, effective leadership and coordination skills and be able to perform under stress.
• Effectively communicates plans / actions and collaborates with a diverse healthcare team for the benefit of the patient, family and organization. Effectively educates patients and families regarding involvement in the plan of care, promotion of self-care, management of symptoms, and follow-up care.
• Maintains accountability for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Possesses a good foundation in organization and prioritization.
• Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
• Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety in accordance with regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team approach to ensure quality, timely, and ethical care.
• Develops psychiatric nursing care plans.
• Participates in delivery of psychotherapy to individuals, family, and groups.

Work Schedule :

Sunday - Saturday, Fourteen 12-hour shifts per month, rotating days and nights

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Minimum Associates Degree of Nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Experience : Minimum of 2 years Mental Health / Psychiatric nursing experience, within the last 3 years.

Licensure : Active, unrestricted license as an RN in any state

Board Certification : None

Life Support Certification : Maintain current BLS Healthcare Provider certification from AHA or ARC.

Security : Must possess ability to pass a Government background check / security clearance.

Base salary : $65.00 - $86.00 / hr depending on experience

Sign-on Bonus : $2,000 payable with first paycheck
