Head of Production - Machine Assembly

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Production - Machine Assembly to lead our assembly operations. This role is responsible for optimizing technical and human resources to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products. A key focus will also be the setup and ongoing improvement of an effective, lean supply chain, leveraging tools from our ERP / business systems.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a background in mechanical assembly, lean manufacturing, and process optimization, who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to high performance.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and respectful collaboration.

Production Process Management

Establish, maintain, and continuously improve production processes-both technical and organizational.

Assign personnel and make strategic operational decisions to optimize workflows and resource utilization.

Collaborate closely with the Industrial Engineering team to resolve Bill of Materials (BOM) discrepancies.

Support the development and implementation of test fixtures for component validation.

Lean Manufacturing & Shop Floor Management

Champion SYNCHRO principles and shop floor management (SFM); regularly lead and contribute to SFM meetings.

Drive continuous improvement through Improvement Kata and problem-solving initiatives.

Layout & Material Flow

Design and refine production layouts; establish efficient material flow to support seamless operations.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Collect, analyze, and act on production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.

Quality Assurance

Ensure product quality through proactive control measures and problem-solving via the Quality Management (QM) system.

Document and follow up on quality issues and corrective actions

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing.

Proven understanding of lean supply chain principles (Just-In-Time, Kanban).

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage production schedules, and optimize workflows.

Experience with SAP (especially production modules) strongly preferred.

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is a strong plus.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Bilingual in German and English is a plus.

Associate degree (2-year technical degree) or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.

Training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Industrial Engineering is desirable.
