Senior Project Manager – Retail Store Technology Transformation
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Project Manager or Program Manager to lead a large, complex program, at our client, focused on transforming retail store technology . This initiative is highly focused on enhancing both the customer and team member experience in stores through technology innovations.
The ideal candidate will have proven success in initiating and driving large-scale, multi-workstream programs, building roadmaps, project plans, managing dependencies, and aligning strategic goals across teams and vendors. Retail industry experience is strongly preferred, though exceptional candidates with a “customer-first” mindset from other industries will be considered.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the initiation and execution of a large-scale retail store technology transformation program.
Develop and maintain comprehensive program roadmaps, project plans, and long-term strategic plans.
Have a long-term perspective and foresight to help manage the discrete pieces of this transformation and how they align to a long-term vision.
Manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams, while reducing chaos and keeping the team focused.
Identify and manage dependencies between teams, projects, and vendors.
Communicate effectively with executive stakeholders, providing clear status updates, risk assessments, and recommendations.
Oversee and manage external vendors, including both onshore and offshore partners, ensuring quality delivery and accountability.
Drive collaboration and maintain focus across diverse teams, reducing program complexity and ensuring progress toward milestones.
Foster a “customer-first” mindset throughout all program initiatives. Required Qualifications :
8+ years of progressive experience in project / program management, including large-scale transformation initiatives.
Proven experience managing project Scope, Resources, Schedule, and Budget (both for internal and external team / vendor spend)
Proven success in managing multiple concurrent workstreams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated success in leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in a hybrid, Waterfall and Agile, environment
Experience managing cross team collaboration, along with identifying dependencies across teams, projects, other workstreams, etc.
Strong background in roadmap creation, project planning, and strategic program execution.
Experience managing vendors, including onshore / offshore teams.
Exceptional communication skills, including executive-level presentations and reporting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
Demonstrates a customer-first mentality with deep empathy and understanding for the retail customer experience
Must be able to lead with confidence and authority to drive project progress while, at the same time, being a good team player
Proficiency with Atlassian Jira and Confluence Preferred Qualifications :
Retail industry experience (store technology, POS, customer experience enhancements).
Contract-to-hire flexibility and interest in a potential long-term role.
