Freight Relationship Manager

The Freight Relationship Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening client relationships within the assigned business segment and / or geographic region. Working directly and through Account Representatives, this role drives growth by acquiring new business, expanding existing relationships, and optimizing portfolio performance. The ideal candidate combines strategic relationship management with consultative sales expertise to deliver exceptional value to clients and the organization.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Client Relationship Management : Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership at assigned clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term retention. Manage non-credit risk across the customer portfolio to maintain compliance and mitigate exposure.
  • Business Development & Growth : Prospect and secure new business opportunities to increase spend volume and revenue. Expand existing customer relationships through cross-selling and upselling of bank products and services. Monitor profitability and implement strategies to enhance financial performance.
  • Consultative Sales & Advisory : Provide tailored, consultative advice to clients to support their business objectives. Identify client needs and deliver solutions across all product groups. Make appropriate referrals to internal partners for specialized services.
  • Portfolio Optimization : Drive growth through program optimization initiatives and strategic planning. Analyze portfolio performance and recommend improvements to maximize results.

Qualifications include :

  • Proven experience in relationship management and consultative sales within the freight or logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial products and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve business goals.
  • Must currently live in Illinois or Minnesota and will be in office 3 days out of the week.

    Basic Qualifications : Bachelors degree, or equivalent work experience - 10 or more years of relationship management experience. Preferred Skills / Experience : Strong sales, relationship management and business development abilities. Extensive knowledge of CPS products and services. Broad knowledge of bank products and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities to expand relationships and sales of banks products. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals, groups, and vendors across the company to manage customer relationships. Well-developed written communication and verbal presentation skills.
