Position Information Job Title Programming Assistant Department Student Union Position Number 964000 Requisition Number 064014 Position Type Student Assistant Full Time / Part Time Part-Time Time-limited through N / A Hours 15-25 per week Hourly Rate $12.50 Job Summary / Responsibilities Programming Assistants are responsible for the maintenance of the Game Room and Information Desk workspace, the distribution of games and equipment, and providing excellent customer service. Timeliness and ability to follow established procedures are critical.

In this role, employees :

  • Check out equipment to Game Room patrons according to established procedures.
  • Enforce Game Room and Student Union policies.
  • Assist with technical issues related to Game Room equipment, including televisions, consoles, computers, and controllers.
  • Manage Game Room inventory and follow proper inventory control procedures.
  • Serve as information coordinators, as they are often the first point of contact for visitors to the Student Union.
  • Provide directions to programs, services, and activities at the Student Union and around campus, while maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in the Game Room.
  • Other duties as directed by Student Union Professional Staff, Lead Game Room Assistant, or Building Manager.
  • Assist other Student Union teams as necessary; may include covering other workstations or providing assistance with event furniture setups.
  • Report any incidents or injuries to Professional Staff or Building Managers.
  • Execute emergency response procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain communication with employees on other Student Union teams, such as the Event and Guest Services teams, to request and provide support as needed.
  • Wear close-toed shoes and a provided staff t-shirt and nametag.
  • Other duties as assigned that can include but not limited to : assisting with any programming elements needed to prepare for the day of such as Market Days and Game Room Programming events.

Mandatory paid trainings include :

  • New Hire Orientation (3-4 hours)
  • Semi-annual staff training the Friday before Fall semester begins
  • Ongoing role-specific trainings as scheduled by supervisor
  • Physical requirements of this position are as follows :

  • Standing & Sitting – Frequent : 30-70%
  • Walking; Lifting up to 30 lbs; Pushing / Pulling; Reaching; Stooping / Kneeling / Crouching – Occasional : Up to 30%

  • Current UNF Student. Maintain both a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • All staff members are required to attend a semi-annual staff training, typically the Friday before Fall semester begins.
