Job Type : Full-time, 19 days on / 9 days off schedule

Pay Range : $40.00 - $48.00

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Forestry Equipment Operator to join our team for the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating forestry equipment, including tracked harvesters, skidders, log loaders, tracked mulchers, forwarders, and wood-chipping equipment. The Forestry Equipment Operator will report directly to the Land Clearing Foreman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forestry equipment to perform tasks such as felling trees, processing logs, skidding, loading, mulching, forwarding, and chipping.
  • In addition to operating forestry equipment, the employee may be required to operate other types of equipment as needed to support project requirements.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines and objectives.

Scope of Work

The Forestry Equipment Operator will perform a variety of tasks critical to the Stibnite Mine Development Project, including :

  • Felling Trees : Use tracked harvesters to fell trees in designated areas.
  • Processing Logs : Process felled trees into logs for transport or further processing.
  • Skidding : Use skidders to transport logs from the cutting site to the landing area.
  • Loading : Use log loaders to load logs onto trucks or trailers for transport.
  • Mulching : Use tracked mulchers to clear vegetation and debris from work areas.
  • Forwarding : Use forwarders to transport logs from the landing area to the processing site.
  • Chipping : Use wood-chipping equipment to process wood waste into chips for disposal or reuse.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience operating forestry equipment, including tracked harvesters, skidders, log loaders, tracked mulchers, forwarders, and wood-chipping equipment.
  • Proven experience as a forestry equipment operator in forestry or civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of forestry equipment.
  • Strong understanding of forestry practices, equipment operation, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow the flagging system used to mark trees for removal, ensuring only the designated trees are cut down.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Living Arrangements and Shift Schedule

    This position is based at the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho, a remote location. Employees will reside in a camp at the project site during their shifts. The shift schedule is 19 days on and 9 days off, with two of the 19 days being paid travel days. The company will provide transportation to and from the project site for both on- and off-shift rotations. Additionally, all meals will be provided at a catered cafeteria located at the camp, and employees will have access to showers and laundry services.

  • The camp is a "dry" camp, meaning the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on-site.
  • This policy is in place to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
  • Employees are expected to adhere to this policy at all times during their shifts.
  • Safety and Compliance

    The Stibnite Mine Development Project is a job site monitored by both OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration). All employees will receive comprehensive training to obtain the necessary certifications for their specific role, work location, and type of work. This training is part of Iron Woman Mining Services' commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
