About the job Ophthalmic Technician - St. Petersburg, Florida We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join this team. The ideal candidate will have experience in ophthalmology. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality eye care to patients and demands a dedication to excellence in clinical practice. Responsibilities : Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing initial testing. Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to ensure the best patient outcomes. Open and close the diagnostic area; maintain equipment and rooms in working condition. Perform diagnostic tests as per the physician's orders, including, but not limited to, visual field testing, OCT testing, fundus photography, external photography, and corneal topography. Timely, accurate, and efficient transfer of test results into electronic medical records. Conduct refraction and assist in other diagnostic procedures as required. Compensation and Benefits : Hourly rates are contingent upon skill level and certification, ranging from $18 - $33 per hour. Requirements : 2-4 years of optometric or ophthalmic experience. Strong knowledge of preliminary testing, optics, and eye care. Successfully pass a drug and background check as part of the hiring process. Participate in a skills assessment as part of the hiring process. Be available to work Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM as part of the regular schedule. Follow the scheduling provided two weeks in advance unless responding to last-minute changes.
