Summary
As a part of Momentum Telecom Systems team, you will join a group of talented admins in delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. As a qualified Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building, managing, securing, and monitoring the datacenter and cloud infrastructure at Momentum while assisting the team in building and documenting new systems. In addition, you will work with the managers to implement new technologies as applicable.
This position requires the ability to communicate and collaborate with the Systems team members. It will require working with other engineering and support teams to accomplish directives and projects. To be successful, one must be able to work well in a team-based environment, work independently on tasks, and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Installation, administration, upgrade and patching of hardware, software, and virtual components.
- Providing technical support for teams across Momentum via incoming support tickets
- Knowledge Sharing with Systems administrators
- DNS management for both customers and internal domains.
- Administration of inventory, security, and monitoring systems.
- Security tasks such as server hardening, vulnerability mitigation, backup and recovery of systems, SSL / TLS certificate administration including distribution and installation, server access management.
- Change management planning and execution with most execution being required during after-hours maintenance windows.
- On-call rotation
Required Skills
Proficiency installing, configuring, securing, and troubleshooting Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows servers in both a physical and virtual environment.Strong background in VMWare environment (automated deployment and administration of hosts, clusters, virtual networks, virtual machines, etc.)Proven background in configuration management / automation tools such as Ansible or SaltStack.High level proficiency with troubleshooting server connectivity issues using basic network tools such as ping, traceroute, tcpdump, Wireshark, and / or other related tools.Scripting (Python preferred)Strong background in administration of DNS, Apache, MySQL, Postfix, DHCP and IISStrong understanding of server / network security concepts (Active Directory / LDAP, group policy, firewall, host intrusion detection, vulnerability mitigation, etc.)Must be able to work in a 24x7 environment (on-call rotation) and respond promptly to after- hours incidents. After-hours maintenance will be required.Proven experience with Kubernetes or other container management applications.Experience with cloud environments and technologiesExperience & Education
A college degree in a related technical field is desired and / or equivalent work experience.A minimum of 7 years of experience in server administration is required.
