Job Title : Mechanical Designer (CREO / Windchill)
Location : Fridley, MN (Hybrid – Remote / In-Office as Needed)
Pay Rate : $33 / hr
Type : Long-Term Contract (Potential for Full-Time Conversion)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and engineering details. This role requires advanced proficiency with CREO 7 (or higher) and Windchill , strong technical design expertise, and the ability to work independently while also mentoring design staff.
Key Details
- Location : Fridley, MN (Hybrid schedule – on-site as business needs require)
- Schedule : Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (flexible start / end times)
- Contract Type : Long-term contract with strong potential for conversion to full-time
- Interview Process : 1-hour Zoom interview with hiring manager
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred)8–10 years of mechanical design experience strongly preferred5–8 years of CREO 7 (or higher) schematic / cabling experience requiredExperience with Windchill requiredTop Skills
CREO 7 (or higher) design and schematic expertiseProficiency with Windchill PLMStrong understanding of design techniques, blueprint reading, and engineering principlesLeadership and mentoring skills with strong communication abilitiesResponsibilities
Develop, review, and approve design drawings and engineering specifications for mechanical equipment using CREO 7Retrieve and manage change notices from lead designers while supporting multiple concurrent projectsAssign material identifiers and approve technical views (schematic, orthographic, angled, etc.)Collaborate with design teams and provide mentoring to resolve design or technical issuesModify and revise drawings for manufacturability and compliance with requirementsAnalyze sketches, data, and project requirements to ensure optimal component designServe as a subject matter expert for clients and team members, especially regarding system installationCore Competencies
