Responsibilities and Duties
Manage ambulatory cardiology cases, including preoperative and postoperative care for catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress testing, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)Perform and manage pre-procedure and post-procedure cardiac catheterization assessmentsOversee preoperative and postoperative care for mitral clip, ASD closures, and Watchman proceduresAdminister IV medications and manage medication dripsWrite admission, daily progress, and discharge notes; reconcile medications; order and renew medicationsObtain patient consent and provide education on procedures and medications, including contrast prophylaxis protocolsOrder imaging studies such as CT, MRI, ECHO, and routine laboratory workPerform EKGs, interpret results, and conduct arterial blood gas (ABG) determinationsInsert and manage venous lines, feeding tubes, Foley catheters, nasogastric tubes, and perform phlebotomy and venipunctureRemove central venous pressure lines, surgical and non-surgical dressings, drains, staples, and suturesInitiate consultation requests and participate in interdisciplinary rounds and treatment planningManage patients on antiarrhythmic therapy (including Tikosyn and Sotalol) and direct admissionsAdmit patients requiring overnight monitoring and provide sign-outs to receiving teamsCollaborate daily with cardiology attendings and fellows; provide coverage for stress testsReceive cardiac patients from the ED post-catheterization for discharge managementReview and request outside reports and coordinate patient transfers for advanced cardiac careAdditional Information
