The Accounting Manager- Grants will be responsible for the accounting for various government, corporate and private foundation grant contracts supporting Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees all timely reporting and accurate fiscal record keeping for all grant contracts in compliance with federal and state regulations and other grantor requirements.
  • Collaborates with grant program leadership to ensure that program policies and procedures meet 2 CFR 200 OMB Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
  • Assists with the development of written budgets for new grant applications in collaboration with grant writers.
  • Keeps knowledge up to date through professional development and conferences on OMB federal grant 2 CFR 200 and single audit requirements.
  • Responsible for preparation, review and coordination of single audit work with external and internal auditors.
  • Responsible for the proper utilization of software programs and tools to support grant budgeting, management, accounting for grant costs, accurate and timely preparation of invoices, and collection of accounts receivable for all grants.
  • Monitors grant expenses and resources and reports variances and trend information to grant program leadership and senior management as requested.
  • Manages the grant disbursement process and reconciliation of fund balances to the general ledger.
  • Assists in the annual agency fiscal year budgeting process by creating annual budgets per grant guidelines in collaboration with program managers.
  • Supervises Grant Accountant and assists in creation of development plans and goals.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Must have strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clarify financial concepts and requirements to non-financial personnel.
  • Must possess versatility, discretion and good interpersonal skills with ability to work with a variety of diverse people, providing excellent customer service.
  • Must have the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time under tight deadlines.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

    • Education / Specialized Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business required, preferably in accounting or finance.
  • CPA license is favored but not required.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience in grant accounting and single audits preferred.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years' experience in general accounting.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and Outlook. Candidates with intermediate or advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, or similar applications are favored.
  • Sage Intacct, Ramp, or Airbase software experience is preferred.
  • Solid grasp of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the oversight of complex grant and contract agreements, including braided grant funding, is preferred.

  • This job may have physical requirements that are considered sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity and occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • Travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location is occasionally required.
