About the College of Lifetime Learning at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The College of Lifetime Learning (here) is the seventh college at Georgia Tech, founded in September 2024. The college is focused on inquiry and pursuit of knowledge and fundamental understanding of the arts and sciences of learning at all stages of life and through the entire career arc. This study is uniquely supported by a strong, rich history of leading research and education in early learning (K-12) with a strong focus of STEM, thought leadership in the re-envisioning of higher education, and remains one of the leading providers of professional and executive education. From this foundation, the college has established a strategic plan to create formal degree programs in the field of lifetime learning to support the education and preparation of future leaders in the new fields of learning technology, learning science and learning analytics. The college is focused on growing a cohort of faculty inspired by the pursuit of the academic inquiry into the intersection of learning sciences, technology, business and policy to accomplish its stated dual missions of delivering both excellence in lifetime learning at all life stages and cultivating the future thought leaders in new fields and disciplines of lifetime learning, including workplace learning and development.

Job Summary

The College of Lifetime Learning (https : / / cll.gatech.edu / ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Learning Analytics or Learning Sciences as applied to the field of Lifetime Learning. Applicants will be considered at all ranks. Specific areas that support and further the inquiry in the foundational areas of research and educational offerings might include learning sciences and analytics, data mining, visualization, ethical use of and data privacy; AI empowered learning technologies for pedagogy, student support, learning experience, and reporting return on learning investment; research, development, and creation of flexible digital credential and comprehensive learner record offerings. Any of the research and educational areas should enable one to include contribute to knowledge in early learning (K-12) with a strong focus of STEM, as well as the re-envisioning of higher education through adult learning credit-bearing and professional education offerings, for the future of work and workplace learning in order to provide for the future of work and an accessible, affordable, and achievable education. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Responsibilities

The College seeks individuals with outstanding potential for research achievement, and a strong aptitude and interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as interest and experience in translating curricula innovations into programs of study for both credit and professional, and or executive, programs. We seek scholars with a track record of innovative research, teaching, and service at the intersection of learning sciences, technology, business and policy. This opportunity is part of a cluster hire that is focused on the intersection of learning science and learning analytics, management and technology and will lead inquiry and education in the areas of workplace learning. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree. Candidates will be considered at the ranks of Assistant and Associate Professor. Exceptional candidates will also be considered at the rank of full Professor.

Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in learning sciences, learning analytics, educational psychology, computer science, or a related field.
