The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for reviewing audits of licensees and registrants under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and the International Registration Plan (IRP), respectively. This involves reviewing and analyzing audit reports, distance and fuel records, working papers and audit file contents to ensure they meet compliance with regulatory requirements. Additional audit responsibilities include detailed review process and coordinating communication, issue assessment notifications to the auditee during various stages of the process. As part of our customer outreach function, this position is a resource to new and existing licensees and registrants regarding proper record keeping techniques and systems and other regulatory issues concerning IFTA and IRP.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards. Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements. Skill in preparing and / or reviewing written reports and communicating the findings. Ability to understand, interpret, and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Advanced knowledge in accounting, bookkeeping, and fiscal practices. Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data. Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful, approachable and courteous manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience auditing, analyzing and verifying data or information for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Experience composing, drafting or reviewing written reports of analysis. Experience verbally communicating analysis performed, assessment results, recommendations, etc. to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional customer service experience : identify, prevent, de-escalate and manage customer service challenges that may occur. Experience working in and using Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.

Position Related Requirements

This position may require occasional overnight travel to attend meetings, workshops, etc.
