Key Responsibilities :
Exterior Cleaning :
Washing, waxing, polishing, and potentially claying the vehicle's exterior to remove dirt, grime, and imperfections.
Interior Cleaning :
Vacuuming, shampooing carpets and upholstery (ONLY WHEN NECESSARY) cleaning and sanitizing all interior surfaces, after repairs.
Inventory Management :
Maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and ensuring they are properly stored.
Following Safety Protocols :
Adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures to create a safe working environment.
Vehicle Inspection :
Inspecting vehicles for any damage or issues and reporting findings to the appropriate personnel.
Skills and Qualifications :
Physical Stamina :
The job requires standing and performing physical tasks.
Attention to Detail :
Detailers need to be meticulous in their work to ensure a high-quality finish.
Knowledge of Cleaning Products and Techniques :
Understanding the different cleaning agents and tools used in car detailing is essential.
Experience :
While not always required, prior experience in car detailing or a related field can be beneficial.
PRE-SCAN + POST-REPAIR SCANS
Pre-Repair Scans : Conducting comprehensive diagnostic scans of vehicle systems before any repair work begins. This helps identify existing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and any potential issues that could be impacted by or impact the ADAS systems.ADAS System Identification and Assessment : Accurately identifying the specific ADAS systems present in a vehicle (e.g., adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking) and understanding their functions and calibration requirements.Calibration Needs Determination : Determining whether repairs, replacements, or other maintenance tasks necessitate an ADAS calibration based on manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.Post-Repair Scans : Performing diagnostic scans after repairs to verify that all systems are functioning correctly, no new issues have arisen during the repair process, and all DTCs have been cleared.ADAS Calibration (Optional, but often included) : If the role also includes calibration duties, the technician will use specialized tools and software to adjust and verify the alignment and functionality of ADAS sensors, cameras, and radar systems according to OEM standards after repairs or replacements.Documentation and Reporting : Maintaining detailed records of all scans, calibrations, and adjustments for each vehicle, including findings, actions taken, and proof of successful calibrations for insurance purposes.Tool and Equipment Maintenance : Ensuring that calibration tools, scan tools, and diagnostic equipment are well-maintained, calibrated, and updated as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.Staying Current with Technology : Continuously learning about new vehicle models, evolving ADAS technologies, and calibration procedures through training and industry updates.Photograph Each Vehicle : Upload Pre-Repair photographs, during repair as well as after completion before delivery to the customerEssential skills and qualifications
Automotive repair and diagnostic experience : Preferably with a focus on automotive electronics and ADAS.Technical Aptitude : Strong understanding of computer and electronic systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.Computer and Tablet Proficiency : Comfortable using diagnostic software, accessing service information, and documenting repairs on digital platforms.Attention to Detail : Meticulous and precise in performing scans, documenting results, and potentially performing calibrations according to manufacturer guidelines.Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyze diagnostic data, identify issues, and determine appropriate actions to resolve problems with ADAS systems.Communication Skills : Effective communication to collaborate with service advisors, other technicians, and potentially customers, explaining diagnostic and calibration results clearly.Physical Dexterity : Ability to perform tasks involving frequent standing, bending, stretching, and lifting objects.Valid Driver's License and Clean Driving Record : As the role may involve driving customer vehicles and between locations.Ability to pass a background check :Note : While some positions focus solely on pre and post-scanning, others may include ADAS calibration as a core responsibility, in which case expertise in using specialized calibration tools and software will also be required.
