Job Overview
The Safety & Health Specialist is an individual contributor role that is responsible for supporting and executing the Safety & Health program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment that meets OSHA and best practice standards. These duties will be carried out at a specified Marvin facility, with the role reporting up through the Operations structure at the designated location.
Work Schedule : Monday - Thursday
4 : 00pm - 2 : 00am
- This position will train DAYS Monday - Thursday 6 : 00am - 4 : 00pm for an extended amount of time before transitioning into an evening shift.
Highlights of your role
Prepare and conduct Safety & Health related education, communication, and training to include new employee orientation, safety committee meetings, and safety alertsDevelop and share Safety & Health related reports driving out of systems such as Origami, iAuditor and othersGain subject matter expertise for federal, state, and Marvin enterprise safety & health compliance, including maintenance of applicable files, documents, and recordsCoordinate Safety & Health activities at a manufacturing site to comply with all applicable regulations and company processes and procedures to promote a best-in-class safety culture predicated on injury preventionChampion all Safety & Health activities within the facility by working closely with employees and management to recognize, generate and implement ideas to continually improve safetyMaintain local Safety & Health policies and procedures within a facility, which will adhere to no less than Enterprise-level materialMaintain employee records documenting certifications or licenses obtained, completion of training, and other employee records as it relates to Safety & HealthDrive and maintain facility readiness for internal and external auditsConduct self-assessment Safety & Health audits, including documenting findings, producing reports, and sharing with applicable leadershipTest and service safety equipment and systemsSupport the use of the control hierarchy, such as implementation of engineering and administrative controls to abate or minimize safety hazardsCoordinate applicable health screenings and ensure completion for designated facility needs (hearing, hazmat physical, respiratory fit testing, etc.)Coordinate local Health & Safety teams (e.g., Safety Committee, Ergonomics Team, etc.)You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
Associates degree preferred or 2-4 years equivalent experienceExperience in a manufacturing environment preferredDemonstrated engagement in safety activities preferred (e.g., safety committee member, first responder, etc.)Currently hold one or more of the following certifications, or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment if not in possession of at the time of hire :Advanced Safety CertificateOSHA 511 HourOccupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)Ability to gain certification to be considered an authorized person for specific OSHA service, maintenance, and inspection requirementsAlso want to make sure you have
Knowledge of OSHA standardsAbility to effectively collaborate with Operations and be able to balance safety with business needsExcellent communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office)Aptitude for technologyAbility to work effectively with management as well as with associates from the floorWillingness to grow within the Health & Safety space, including seeking additional training and certificationsAbility to travel (Willingness to work occasionally outside of core hoursAbility to frequently stand and walk around facilityWe invite you to See Yourself at Marvin
