Analyst 2 : Research

The Analyst 2-Research position is responsible for performing comprehensive, detailed statistical and data analysis work leveraging the College's relational databases and the Business Intelligence (BI) system. Specific activities involve developing comprehensive reports to support the College's operations and the mission. The central role of the position is to work with the relational databases and the BI system, run statistical analysis along with design and development of ad hoc processes to provide timely responses to requests for data from various units. The position responsibilities also include survey administration, BI report design, assisting with mandated reporting, using machine learning models, data visualizations, and supporting the Strategy, Analytics and Research (StAR) team with other tasks assigned.

Successful candidates must be residents of Arizona by their start date. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-site work required.

Duties and responsibilities include :

  • Manages institutional research projects within designated timelines and specifications
  • Designs and executes applied research projects to support institutional effectiveness and strategic goals
  • Administers college-wide surveys and supports course evaluation processes
  • Extracts and analyzes data from the College's relational databases and business intelligence (BI) systems
  • Develops ad hoc queries and processes to fulfill data requests from internal stakeholders
  • Verifies the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data used in analyses and reports
  • Produces and delivers comprehensive reports, dashboards, and data visualizations tailored to various audiences, including administrators, committees, and external agencies
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, College policies, and research protocols in all research activities
  • Prepares federal and state-mandated reports in accordance with reporting requirements
  • Maintains adherence to established research policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Supports the development and interpretation of research findings in response to institutional inquiries
  • Presents findings through written reports and oral presentations to College leadership, standing committees, and other stakeholders
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries related to enrollment, graduation rates, and other institutional metrics
  • Represents the College in external meetings and collaborates with institutional research professionals at other institutions on shared initiatives
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor

Job requirements include :

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one to three years of related experience with applicable computer programs
  • One to three years of related experience with Research and Statistical Methodology
  • Or an equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Preferred qualifications include :

  • Master's degree
  • Experience with enterprise reporting platforms (e.g., Banner)
  • Experience with SQL or other querying software
  • Experience with survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics)
  • Experience with R, Python or other statistical software / programming language
  • The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities :

  • High level of familiarity with data analysis methods, including research design and statistical analysis principles including inferential and descriptive statistics
  • Experience working with large, complex relational databases using SQL
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate analysis results
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the development of reports and statistical summaries for diverse audiences
  • Ability to be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic work environment which requires staff to handle multiple projects on tight timelines
  • Experience with applicable computer programs and software applications Strong customer service skills
