Planning Department Assistant
The Planning Department is seeking an enthusiastic candidate with a customer service mindset and a planning background that will serve as one of the faces at the Planning Department front counter. The incumbent will bridge the gap between the public and the Planning Department by providing answers to questions regarding zoning, development use regulations, and the planning entitlement process to the public and development community over the phone and at the Planning Department front counter. Additionally, the incumbent will monitor the submittal of planning entitlements through our electronic permitting system (Build Fontana) and will have the opportunity to work on some small-scale projects to gain experience and insight on questions that are asked by the public and development community.

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when preparing and reading written reports and other work related documents. Acute hearing is also required when providing phone and counter assistance.

One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience related to planning, architectural or engineering. Preferred Qualifications : Previous customer service experience and prior work experience in a City or County Planning Department. Education : Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in planning, building or a related field is desirable.
Successful candidates will be required to complete an annual Statement of Economic Interest Form (700 Form) and bi-annual ethics training pursuant to AB 1234.
