Senior DevOps Engineer / Infrastructure Lead
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our infrastructure strategy and operations, assuming key responsibilities previously managed by our CTO. This role requires a seasoned professional who can architect, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade infrastructure while supporting our development teams and emerging ML initiatives.
Location : Miami, Florida (NO REMOTE WORK)
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture
- Lead the infrastructure strategy across all environments (development, staging, production), ensuring 99.9%+ uptime and optimal performance
- Design, build, and maintain scalable AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Architect and implement multi-region deployments, auto-scaling solutions, and disaster recovery systems
- Implement robust environment governance including data masking / anonymization for non-production environments, environment-specific secrets management, and compliance boundaries
- Establish and enforce clear environment separation with proper promotion pipelines - design isolated dev / staging / production environments with controlled data flow, access controls, and environment-specific configurations
DevOps & Automation
Develop and manage sophisticated CI / CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodeBuild, or similar platformsImplement GitOps workflows and automated testing frameworks for infrastructure changesCreate and maintain deployment automation Using ansible, cloudformation, and other toolsBuild self-service infrastructure provisioning tools for development teamsWork closely with Infosec and compliance on supporting and advancing our SSDLCCollaboration & Performance Optimization
Partner closely with C++ and Python development teams to optimize application performance, reduce latency, and improve resource utilizationSupport C++ team with network optimization for high performance low latency applicationsProvide technical guidance on architecture decisions and infrastructure best practicesConduct performance tuning and capacity planning across all systemsMonitoring, Security & Compliance
Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch, Datadog)Establish security best practices including IAM policies, VPC design, secrets management, and vulnerability scanningEnsure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) and implement audit trailsMaintain infrastructure documentation and security incident response proceduresOperations & Reliability
Own end-to-end incident response, including on-call rotation, root cause analysis, and post-mortem processesDesign and test disaster recovery procedures and business continuity plansImplement chaos engineering practices and reliability testingContinuously optimize cloud costs while maintaining performance and reliability standardsRequired Qualifications
Technical Expertise
5+ years of hands-on DevOps / Infrastructure engineering experienceExpert-level knowledge of AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, VPC, etc…)Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible and Cloudformation preferred)Strong experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestrationAdvanced scripting skills in Python, Bash, or GoExperience with CI / CD tools and GitOps methodologiesSystems & Architecture
Deep understanding of networking, security, and distributed systemsExperience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)Knowledge of database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, etc.)Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible)Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) is a plusOperational Excellence
Proven track record of managing production systems at scaleExperience with incident management and on-call responsibilitiesStrong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirementsCost optimization experience in cloud environmentsPreferred Qualifications
