  • Job Summary

    This is a short-term, benefits-eligible, full-time one-year-only teaching opportunity for academic year 23 / 24 beginning August 2023. This assignment in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) OYO Faculty position in partnership with our Maricopa Information Institute (MITI). This includes teaching Cybersecurity courses and the coordination of work-based learning opportunities within the Technopreneur Experience at our Mesa Community College (MCC) Southern / Dobson campus in Mesa. Candidates should possess a strong insight into the broad nature of cybersecurity discipline and related activities. Prior teaching and or training experience preferred. A passion for the cybersecurity industry and a desire to be part of growing the careers of a diverse new generation of cybersecurity professionals.

    The position encompasses instructing a diverse (age, gender, ethnicity, technical experience, etc.) range of students in CIS. Teaching modality may include face-to-face, hybrid, live online, and / or online format. The courses taught encompass teaching technology concepts, application, and / or both.

    Duties also include student advising, promotion of dual enrollment with high-schools, assisting adjuncts, and participation in departmental meetings and functions. Participate in at least one college committee. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties

    Purpose : To instruct CIS courses for Cybersecurity certificate of completions and degrees CNT203-CCNA Cybersecurity Operations, CNT205-Cisco Certified Network Associate Security CCNP, CNT250-Cisco Certified Network Professional : Enterprise Advanced Routing and Services) CCNP. Instruction may be non-credit or credit for industry partners as well as credit instruction for MCC students. This faculty member will also be a liaison for our Technopreneur Experience and Internship programs.

    Essential Functions

  • Prepare and teach courses in our cybersecurity and information technologies programs, online, hybrid, remote or in person.
  • Advise students to support their learning and growth in the program.
  • Create a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment and culture for our students.
  • Assist on curriculum over time based on student achievement data, feedback from students and employer partners, and evolving trends in the industry.
  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings
  • Develops written syllabi / course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and / or workshops
  • Classroom and / or laboratory instructions using face-to-face, hybrid and / or online classes at the college level
  • Curriculum development and updating CIS courses; textbook and teaching materials selection
  • Mentoring students through advisement, lab support, tutoring, and holding regular academic support hours
  • Build and maintain dual-enrollment with area high schools
  • Assist adjunct instructors, participate in departmental meetings and functions
  • Participate in at least one college committee
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in the teaching field OR
  • A Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
  • A Master’s degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and / or graduate credits in the teaching field (Upper division courses are Junior and Senior level courses in obtaining a Bachelors’ degree). OR
  • A Bachelor's degree and three years of occupational experience in the field OR
  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught
  • CCNA or CCNP Security certification
  • CISCO CyberOps Associate certification or equivalent experience (CNT203)
  • Desired Qualifications

    A. Possess industry certifications, prior teaching experience and / or equivalent experience

    B. Demonstrate course content development experience to include open educational resources and curriculum development

    C. Experience teaching face-to-face, online, hybrid, hybrid / flex, and live-online

    D. Internship Liaison / Coordinator for online lab work and industry partners

    Special Working Conditions

    May be required to travel from S / D, RDM and the DTC campus

    May be required to teach evenings or Saturdays

    May be required to sit or stand for a prolonged period of time, and viewing a computer monitor

    May be required to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
