Compensation and Benefits

  • We’ll pay you an hourly rate of $15.00-$17.00 per hour, depending on experience and education
  • No nights or weekend work
  • Free DJCC Membership (pool, gym, etc.)

Activity Counselors, along with their co-counselors, will be assigned to a group of children, based by grade, Kindergarten through 5th grade for afterschool activities at Kids Connection Afterschool Program. As a group leader and facilitator, the Activity Counselor is responsible for the day-to-day programming of the group. The Activity Counselor should program to meet the needs of all campers in the group; however, the Activity Counselor must be sensitive to the goals and objectives of the program and provide a program to meet all needs. The hours are 2 : 30pm-6 : 00pm 5 days a week (with the possibility of a 3-day per week schedule).

Responsibilities include

  • Manage the daily routine and activities for their group. Counselors will be assigned to a particular grade, ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade
  • Accountability for assigned children’s’ needs, health, and safety at all times
  • Going to local elementary schools every afternoon to pick-up the children (transportation provided)
  • Ability to drive 15 passenger vans to transport children (required)
  • Implementing group activities and projects
  • Maintaining accurate rosters of children in group
  • Daily cleaning measures such as sanitizing surfaces, bathrooms, and other necessary materials and supplies
  • Maintain positive attitude and affective communication with the administrative staff, their fellow counselors, and children
  • Follow emergency management and safety policies
  • Encourage and model respect for personal space, equipment, and facilities
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requirements :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess enthusiasm, patience, a great sense of humor, a strong work ethic, positivity, and the ability to work well on a team.
  • Enthusiasm, patience, time management, a great sense of humor, attention to detail, strong work ethic, positivity, and excellent communication! Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required!
  • A minimum of 5 years driving experience is required. You will be trained on driving our 15-passenger vans prior to transporting any children.
  • Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check).
