Process Engineer I

The Opportunity :

Avantor is looking for a Process Engineer to be responsible for all phases of small-scale assigned process improvement projects in order to ensure the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost.

The Process Engineer also assists in feasibility studies to implementing process improvements. They will also create necessary documentation and aides in communication to personnel.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA office.

Work Schedule : Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. Must also have 'on call' availability (as needed).

How you will thrive and create an impact :

Work with manufacturing team to provide technical guidance on process, equipment operating procedures, and manufacturing procedures.

Troubleshoot issues with the process and help to resolve the issues or escalate as needed.

Investigate non-conforming batches using root cause analysis and provide corrective and preventive actions.

Work with process engineers to setup manufacturing area and testing equipment for new process technology transfer.

Provide guidance on safety to the work area including : resolving safety concerns, managing process change, leading pre-startup safety reviews, and following safe work practices.

Learn the process and help improve manufacturing procedures and train employees.

Assist with pilot batches and improvements to the process.

What we're looking for :

Education : BS Degree in Chemical engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical engineering or other engineering fields.

Experience :

Chemical process experience & e xperience interpreting P&ID's desired.

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and process safety.

Additional Qualifications :

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.

Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies and procedures.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.

Pay Transparency :

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$60,100.00 - $100,100.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
