Role Overview : The Baltimore Mill is recruiting an Engineering Manager who possesses the ability to create an environment that empowers employees to drive change and improve systems within an uncoated recycled paperboard mill. The position works cross functionally with senior management to help implement the necessary infrastructure to ensure a safe and productive environment. The position requires strong leadership skills, excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills. The Engineering Manager will interface professionally with various internal groups, customers, and other external personnel to effectively perform their duties.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manages facility equipment specifications, acquisition and installation; machine tooling; service engineering, major equipment repair and overhauling. Manages surplus asset pool to optimize equipment utilization.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes and modifications to existing tooling, equipment and manufacturing processes to ensure optimal efficiency, safety and longevity.
  • May oversee equipment functionality and / or compliance for the facility.
  • Develops and tracks project schedules.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures and assists in the development of functional strategy.
  • Manages an organizational budget.
  • Incorporates and ensures safety observances are met, including use of all PPE by colleagues, ensuring guards and safety features are working, and promoting good daily safety practices and habits, etc.
  • Communicates, facilitates and coordinates activities and commitments with other departments and functions.
  • Monitors and maintains current engineering knowledge in developing technologies and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 7+ years of maintenance leadership experience, preferably in a paper mill environment.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience. Skilled at coaching and developing individual employees and teams to perform at their best.
  • Knowledge and Skills :

  • Familiarity with electrical systems, tools, equipment, codes and safety procedures. Familiar with high voltage power distribution.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, boiler operation, steam systems, precision alignment, vibration analysis, pumps, and rigging.
  • Experience with equipment service and repair practices for paper machine and stock prep systems.
  • Familiarity with computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, DCS process systems, CMMS systems and work order management, and CAD.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through mentoring others with effective coaching / accountability, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents.

    Compensation Range : $128,100.00 - $218,200.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $0.00 to $0.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
