Job Title : Program Director for Government Automation Programs
Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced leader to oversee complex government automation programs from initiation through completion. This role is crucial in ensuring alignment across cost, schedule, and technical performance while maintaining compliance and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of program execution, ensuring delivery against contractual and performance objectives.
- Coordinate planning efforts across engineering, operations, and finance to support integrated schedules and reporting systems (IMS).
- Manage relationships with both prime and subcontractors, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
- Oversee forecasting and financial tracking, including EAC development and executive-level reporting.
- Conduct formal reviews and risk assessments to drive accountability and performance.
- Collaborate with leadership on resource planning, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
- Act as the primary liaison with federal stakeholders and contracting authorities.
- Support program reviews, audits, and digital integration initiatives.
- Mentor and develop program staff with a focus on compliance and execution excellence.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.12+ years of experience managing . government programs, preferably in the defense sector.Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams, including engineering and manufacturing.Strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations (FAR, DFARS, ITAR) and lifecycle processes.Proficiency in project management tools (., MS Project, ERP systems, SharePoint).Familiarity with audit processes (DCAA) and proposal preparation.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master’s degree is highly preferred.Experience in automation or digital transformation within government programs.International program experience.Citizenship.Ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance.Willingness to travel up to 25%.Work Environment
The work environment features strong technical backgrounds in controls, automation, and mechanical engineering. Roles often involve working with PLCs, robotics, and custom machinery in a machine shop environment. Team members work closely with precision equipment, CNC machinery, and custom tooling, emphasizing safety, quality, and efficiency. The shop is climate-controlled, well-lit, and organized to support both individual craftsmanship and collaborative problem-solving. Employees are expected to follow strict safety protocols, maintain clean workstations, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00 / hr.
