Metro Infectious Disease Consultants Patient Care Assistant

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking a full-time Patient Care Assistant to work at the clinic located in Naperville, IL.

This Assistant's responsibilities include all duties related to the back-office with occasional front desk duties. Responsibilities assigned to individuals can and will change at any time at the discretion of management or the supervisor.

Back Office Responsibilities :

  • Escort patients from reception to exam room, documenting height, weight, blood pressure and temperature as indicated, document patient's chief complaint and notify doctor when patient is ready to be seen
  • Stock exam rooms with supplies each morning, clean rooms between patients
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies, completing requisitions (order forms) in a timely manner to ensure supplies are not depleted
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Front Office Responsibilities :

  • Filing of all scanned paperwork daily
  • Fax clinic schedules to physicians for next clinic day.
  • Prepare travel chart weekly
  • Open and distribute mail, daily
  • Print schedule for following clinic day. Verify that all progress notes and super-bills are attached
  • Order office supplies
  • Answer telephone calls, including closed offices at different locations
  • Page on consultations to physicians. Page should include consult, hospital, patient name, room number, referring physician, and hospital phone number with appropriate extension
  • Make appointments for new and existing patients according to set guidelines. If patient is new, directions should be given
  • Handle and process billing information daily
  • Handle and process dictation, letters, and physician orders daily
  • Register patients, enter and / or update patient demographics, make copies of vital information
  • Collect co-payments and past due balances from patients at check-in / check-out desk
  • Coordinate and process referral information for managed care patients
  • Process medical records requests

  • Obtain laboratory specimens as requested, completing lab requisitions and preparing samples for pick-up by lab. Document same in Medical Record
  • Ensure superbills are completed at visit end, including, visit code, diagnoses and all labs ordered
