Job Summary :
The A r m e d Transportation / D e te ntion Officer is responsible for providing secure and safe transportation of detainees to and from authorized locations in the Los Fresnos, TX and surrounding areas as required.

Job Responsibilities :
Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort and transport of detainees as required by the contract
Exercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and discipline
Makes official entries in the transportation and processing logbooks that are legible and complete.
Conducts a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer.
Performs complete vehicle inspections prior to and following every transportation route.
Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook.
Receives all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition.
You are required to duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons.
Intermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy.
Ensures that communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
Inspects, maintains, and cares for authorized equipment including but not limited to :
One approved semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazines.
All magazines loaded to full capacity.
Handcuffs / leg irons and keys, waist chains, black boxes, and restraint keys.
Ballistic vests which must be always worn while performing armed officer duties.
Maintains state armed guard licensing and Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Qualify with assigned weapon at least twice per year
Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees
Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility
Provides care , custody, and control of detainees
Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures.
Guards’ detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings, during transport, while receiving medical care and when and other duties as assigned
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures
Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
US Citizen and have resided in the . for at least the last five years
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record)
Obtain and maintain a DHS / ICE government clearance
Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests
Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements as a continued condition of employment
At least 21 years of age
Possess a valid state driver's licenseor CDL
Possess a valid state armed security license
One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement,or Corrections experience demonstrating the following :
Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the public
Capability of following and interpreting / understanding written and verbal orders,
policies and regulations, printed rules, and regulations, detailed written orders,
training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports
Ability to exercise good j ud g m e n t : courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his / her responsibilities
Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations
Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement and CDL requirements
Physical Capability :
This position requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment physical, maintain physical fitness standards and be willing and capable of the following physical requirements :
Ability to walk through all areas of the facility for tours of duty in varied (sometimes extreme)weather conditions
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods of time
Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations, including jogging and fast walking to incidents
Ability to work without restrictions and limitations :
Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Must be able to push a wheelchair bound individual weighing up to 300 pounds and helping individual in and out of chair
Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodically
Strictly maintain physical fitness standards required for the position and for Department of
Transportation CDL license holder throughout your employment under this contract
Must be capable of performing CPR and rendering assistance when needed
