Position Summary :  To perform quality magnetic resonance imaging to assist the radiologist in diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Evaluates images in accordance with professional practice standards. Participates in quality assurance activities and maintains appropriate credentials related to clinical practice.

Position Accountabilities :

• \tCollects pertinent data about the patient and procedure to be performed to provide appropriate imaging studies.
• \tProperly screens patients prior to MRI.
• \tPerforms proper charging in the EMR for examinations performed
• \tUnderstands how to complete orders in the EMR once report is in the chart
• \tConfirms patient identification and pregnancy status when appropriate.
• \tPerforms MRI examinations using professional judgment and discretion.
• \tMust demonstrate complete working knowledge of MRI and other radiographic equipment within the department
• \tDetermines appropriate use of shielding devices or other accessory equipment.
• \tAdministers first aid or provides life support in emergency situations.
• \tMonitors the patient’s physical and mental state during the procedure.
• \tOperates imaging equipment / devices, performs accurate patient positioning, and calculates correct exposure factors.
• \tEvaluates MRI scans for technical image quality as deemed by appropriate protocols
• \tPrepare and administer contrast media; ie. Orally, IV, or rectally.
• \tPractices proper infection control, prevent cross-contamination to patients and instruments.
• \tRecognize emergency situations, initiate code procedures, administer first aid / CPR as needed.
• \tMaintain current CPR certification.
• \tProvides additional imaging as needed to provide appropriate outcome.
• \tPerforms and documents quality assurance duties based on established quality protocols.
• \tProvides healthcare services with respect for patient’s dignity and age-specific needs.
• \tAdheres to accepted standards, policies, and procedures adopted by the profession and regulated by law.
• \tMaintains patient confidentiality.
• \tMaintains appropriate credentials, continuing education, and certification related to clinical practice.
• \tDemonstrates proper use of office communications, telephone, and paging systems.
• \tHas established proper IV certification.
