Radiologic Technologist

Provides quality radiology care through a variety of functions. Performs various patient care activities under nursing supervision. Performs various clerical functions, as assigned, which support the clinical and Center goals. Three to four days per week, eight hour shift. Key areas of responsibility include :

• Providing technical skills involving all radiology duties for the Center
• Taking and developing radiographs of various parts of the body, intra-operatively
• Assisting in patient and staff education and counseling regarding proper radiation safety
• Performing monthly cleanings on C-Arms, Portable X-Ray Unit, Mini C-Arm, lead aprons and all radiology equipment monthly. Documenting properly
• Performing annual quality assurance inspection on all radiology protective wear (holes, wear and tear, etc.)
• Performing assigned nursing support tasks in all areas (PreOp, OR, Pacu, Phase II) according to center policy and procedures
• Assisting with OR suite turnover as time allows
• Performing quality assurance monitoring for the OR, which includes recording temperature and humidity in each OR
• Performing some housekeeping functions as assigned, such as cleaning supply / linen carts, cleaning and changing patient carts, collection and disposal of soiled linen / trash, general cleaning of OR desk and patient areas
• Assisting with ordering, procuring and tracking of supplies from general stores and purchasing, documenting and communicating with the Clinical Director, Materials Manager and Charge Nurse per policy
• Assessing safety and effectiveness of equipment in the work environment. Communicating deficits to Clinical Director and / or Charge Nurse
• Running assigned errands under direction of Clinical Director and / or Charge Nurse
• Assisting with input of inventory depletion information into SIS system daily
• Demonstrating and utilizing good guest relations skills with members of the staff, physicians, patients and visitors
• Participating in the orientation of new staff, volunteers, and approved program participants
• Adhering to OSHA guidelines for Universal Precautions at all times, per policy and procedures
• Utilizing appropriate body mechanics in daily activities, while transporting patients, assisting in ambulation and moving equipment or supplies
• Demonstrating flexibility in meeting the needs of the unit and Center
• Participating in Center Quality Improvement Program activities including identification of aspects of care, collection and analysis of data, implementation of an improvement plan and evaluation of the process
• Attending Center staff and unit meetings and educational opportunities
• Maintaining all required certifications (CPR), ASRT and state license
• Performing efficiently in emergency situations
• Prioritizing job responsibilities to facilitate optimum quality of patient care
• Performing activities with efficiency and speed
• Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
