Manager, Solution Engineering - Austin, TX (Hybrid)

In this critical role, you will lead the strategy and delivery of Western Union’s Developer Portal. Working cross-functionally with engineers, product and design teams to build an intuitive and robust platform that enabled seamless integration for partners and developers.

As a Developer Portal Manager, you will help define and execute the roadmap, gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders, and continuously enhance the portal to improve the developer experience.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of developers and testers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Liaise with the Product team to define and prioritize features aligned with business goals.
  • Provide architectural guidance and ensure timely delivery of platform-specific solutions.
  • Design and manage secure, scalable, and maintainable cloud-based software systems.
  • Develop and enhance software with a focus on performance, maintainability, and code optimization.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolution across functional and technical teams.
  • Recommend improvements to existing software programs and development practices.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals to stakeholders.
  • Define and maintain delivery and support guidelines.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and enable the team to adopt innovative solutions.
  • Work independently on simple to moderately complex projects.
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams and service providers.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar. Equivalent work experience is acceptable.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in software architecture design and implementation including hands-on experience with JAVA, Spring boot, AWS.
  • Solid hands-on experience in Java / J2EE, architectural and design patterns, Spring boot, Web technologies, SQL / NoSQL, and Kafka.
  • Professional experience in utilizing JavaScript, CSS, Jenkins, and CI / CD pipeline.
  • Experience of working in Developer Portal and API platform
  • Experience with agile development methodologies with emphasis on Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI / / CD.
  • Comfortable with an Agile Scrum project management style.
  • Self-starter with ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage a team.
  • Experience in Financial Services is a plus.
  • Salary

    The base salary range is $140,000 – $160,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus long-term and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies.
